The Los Rizaos farm, which belongs to Agrícola Galinda, was the location for the event held today and organised in order to inaugurate and start up the LIFE-Aquemfree pilot plant. Amongst other attendees, the Director of IMIDA, Juana Mulero, and representatives of all the project beneficiaries including José Fenoll (IMIDA), Simón Navarro (University of Murcia), Lucas Galera (Novedades Agrícolas S.A) and Antonio Sanz (Fecoam) were present.
The equipment has been modified with regards to the Aquemfree prototype installed in the IMIDA Torreblanca farm in June 2015. Following a year of promising results, both during the summer and winter months, the equipment was re-designed in order to make it more compact, simple and suitable for working farms.
This is the first of four pilot plants contemplated in the project. The installation process is due to be completed in the remaining locations (a lemon tree farm in Santomera, a peach tree farm in Cieza and a farm growing vegetables in greenhouses in Águilas) during the final quarter of this year.
